This Privacy Policy describes how Dutch Engineer ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use dutchengineer.org ("Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the Service, including which lessons you view and your progress through modules. We use PostHog for analytics.

Automatically Collected Data

We automatically collect device information, browser type, IP address, and pages visited using cookies and similar technologies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the Service
• Track your learning progress across lessons and modules
• Improve the curriculum and learning experience
• Send you updates about the curriculum (you can opt out at any time)
• Detect and prevent abuse of the Service

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

• Service providers that help us operate the platform, including Supabase (authentication and database), Cloudflare (hosting), Modal (course API), Stripe (payment processing), and PostHog (analytics)
• Law enforcement if required by law or to protect our rights

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers operated by Supabase and Cloudflare. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

5. Your Choices

You can:

• Access and update your account information at any time
• Delete your data — progress, quiz and project results, submissions, and tutor conversations — from your settings page, keeping your account
• Delete your account from the same page. Any subscription is cancelled straight away, and your data is permanently deleted after a 30-day period during which signing in restores the account
• Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link

6. What We Keep After Deletion

When you delete your account we remove your profile, learning history, submissions, and settings, and we remove you from the course GitHub organisation and any newsletter list.

Two things outlive the account, and we would rather say so than let you find out. Payment records — invoices and the transaction history held by our payment processor — are business and tax records we are legally required to retain; they are not used for anything else. And any repository you created in your own GitHub account belongs to you, so we do not touch it; delete it yourself if you want it gone.

7. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication (to keep you signed in) and analytics (to understand how the Service is used). You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not work properly.

8. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
